Samson, the great German Shepherd who lived with our family for fourteen years.  Samson, who was responsible for the care and well-being of our family.

And, that included the care and feeding and supplier of love and tenderness toward all of our household cats.  Samson became their best friend and leader.

Don't ever let anyone tell you that dogs and cats cannot get along together.  Especially so if the dog is a brilliant German Shepherd.

Samson's lineage included some German Shepherds that actually changed the evaluation standards for the breed.  Samson Also let the cats chase him around the house and , as well, he provided a great pillow for them to sleep as a group.

Samson was also adept at frightening visitors half to death, carrying the cats in his great jaws from room to room.

The German Shepherd is known throughout the world for his uncanny intelligence and faithfulness, with a well-earned reputation as family companion, guide dog, police dog, and, of course, herder.

The German Shepherd is a great house-dog, but if you live in an apartment you will need to give your dog daily exercise. German Shepherds are excellent travelers and love to ride in the car for long trips. They are a companion that can be taken everywhere.

The first impression of a good German Shepherd Dog is that of a strong, agile, well muscled animal, alert and full of life.

If any breed of dog is most deserving of the title Noble with Natural Beauty then that dog is the German Shepherd.

The German Shepherd is a dog with elegant yet flowing lines, glamorous to behold, with a shining coat, erect ears, and an intelligent expression that will command attention wherever he is seen.

A German Shepherd's eyes indicate the love and affection he has for those who care for him and his sweeping tail will show his mood whether it be gay or sad.  It is well balanced, with harmonious development of the forequarter and hindquarter.  The dog presents an outline of smooth curves rather than angles.

Its look is substantial, both at rest and in motion, of muscular fitness and nimbleness.  The dog is stamped with a look of quality and nobility--difficult to define, but unmistakable when present.  Every animal gives a definite impression of masculinity or femininity, according to its sex.

In all, the German Shepherd exudes strength, power and confidence.

The German Shepherd has a distinct personality marked by direct and fearless, but not hostile,

expression, self-confidence and a certain aloofness that does not lend itself to indiscriminate friendships.  In bringing a German Shepherd into your home, you are making an addition to your family and he will quickly feel a part of it.

Your house, your garden, your possessions and in fact all that you own will from then on be in his special care.

Your Shepherd needs your love, but he also needs correct attention to his grooming, exercise, food, and general welfare.  Given these, your German Shepherd will devote his very life to you and you will be the richer for this and for the companionship and love you both will share.  The head is noble, cleanly chiseled and

strong. The look is distinct, with the male's specifically masculine, the female's definitely feminine.  In both cases, though, the expression is keen, intelligent, composed and you always have the feeling that the dog is communicating with you.  Intelligent expression that will command attention.
